Former Sunday Times editor, Eleanor Mills, and renowned Irish broadcaster Barbara Scully come together for a unique event that promises to be highly enlightening and entertaining.

With a career spanning over two decades at the Sunday Times, Eleanor has interviewed some of the world’s most influential figures and now leads the empowering community, NOON, which supports women in midlife. Famous for coining the phrase “Queenager”, Eleanor’s mission is to change the narrative around older women in our culture to something more positive and fit for purpose.

Broadcaster and columnist Barbara Scully, celebrated for her candid and humorous take on navigating the complexities of modern womanhood will join Eleanor in conversation as they discuss how women can and should embrace midlife as a time of transformation and opportunity.

Eleanor Mills

Eleanor Mills is a campaigner, founder,  bestselling-author and award-winning editor. Her book Much More to Come: Lessons on the Mayhem and Magnificence of Midlife, published by HarperCollins in August 2024 is a Times bestseller and she is the founder of Noon.org.uk – home of the Queenager, a platform to empower women in midlife. For 23 years Eleanor was a senior editor on The Sunday Times where she was the paper’s Editorial Director, Editor of The Sunday Times Magazine, a columnist, Comment Editor and interviewed everyone from Theresa May and Sheryl Sandberg to Harry Styles and the Dalai Lama. She was Chair of Women in Journalism UK from 2014-2021.  She writes regularly across UK newspapers and magazines and appears on TV and radio. She is married with two grown up children and lives in north London where she swims in the Hampstead Ladies pond every day.

Barbara Scully

Barbara Scully is a well-known writer, columnist, and broadcaster. She is frequently published in the national press and magazines. Her first book, ‘Wise Up, Power, Wisdom and the Older Woman’ was published in summer 2022 and has been widely well received. Marian Keyes described it as “a warm, accessible, personal account of what it is to be a woman - and the unexpected courage and freedom we get as we age”.

Barbara is a familiar voice on radio and TV, contributing to talk shows on both local and national radio (including RTE Radio One) and she is one half of the very popular So You Think You’re An Adult slot every week on the Moncrieff Show on Newstalk with Declan Buckley.

She is an experienced MC and public speaker and her popular talk, entitled “What If The Best Is Yet To Come” has been delivered to both corporate and public audiences.

In 2023 Barbara inadvertently dipped her toes into stand-up comedy. It went better than she expected and so she did it again at the Funny Women show in Whelans in May 2024. As a result she is now working on her own one woman show which she hopes to perform later this year.
